The Nikon F2 is a professional 35mm SLR introduced in 1971 as the successor to the legendary Nikon F. Built around a fully mechanical titanium focal-plane shutter, the F2 was designed as a modular professional system with interchangeable finders, focusing screens, backs, and motor drives. This camera includes the substantial Nikon MD-2 Motor Drive with MB-1 battery pack, turning the F2 into a classic 1970s professional high-speed setup. The MD-2 provides powered film advance in single or continuous shooting, selectable shooting speeds, and powered film rewind. With the MB-1 and standard AA batteries, it can advance at up to approximately 4 frames per second; higher rates were possible with Nikon's rechargeable MN-1 battery system and mirror lock-up.
The MB-1 is the battery/grip section attached beneath the MD-2. It accepts two MS-1 battery holders, each holding five AA batteries, for a total of 10 AA batteries. Together, the MD-2 and MB-1 give the F2 its unmistakable full-size professional configuration and make this an especially impressive setup for collectors or anyone wanting the complete vintage Nikon experience.
